The following press release was recently distributed:

CHICAGO – Will Act For Food has refused to slow down since coming back from their company hiatus in 2006. Since then, they’ve presented two full-run productions, taken part in a summer festival with the Neo-Futurists, and have raised almost one ton of food for Chicago’s hungry while doing it. Now with another two shows in the works, and a presence at Looptopia 2008, they’ve got a lot to talk about.

But first things first. WAFF is positively thrilled to be producing Wendy MacLeod’s The House of Yes this spring. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because the play was made into a film in the late 90’s, which has enjoyed quite the cult following. As if producing a play that is a fairly well-known movie wasn’t enough of a challenge, WAFF is also going to be doing this one at The Cornservatory, a space that boasts its own share of challenges. How will they do it? To find out, here’s what you need to know:

The House of Yes by Wendy MacLeod
At The Cornservatory, 4210 N. Lincoln
Fridays and Saturdays at 8PM; Sundays at 5PM
March 7-April 13
$18; $10 for students/seniors
$15 with nonperishable food item donation
For reservations, please call 773-327-9725
All food raised will benefit The Lakeview Pantry, Will Act For Food’s partner in community service.

The House of Yes is subtitled by its author as a “Suburban Jacobean Play.” Despite the hurricane raging outside, the Pascal family is determined to celebrate Thanksgiving. Marty Pascal is coming home for the holiday, and bringing his new fiancée- the first and only outsider ever to visit the house- with him. This is not such good news for his twin sister Jackie-O, recently released from a mental institution. Marty and Jackie have a very, um… close… relationship, even for twins. Really really close. You know when Luke and Leia kissed, and we all got a little skeeved out? Like that, but times about a hundred. We’re talking twincest here, people. There, I said it.

Compared to the storm brewing inside the house, suddenly the hurricane doesn’t seem so bad. Join WAFF as they prove once and for all that there’s no place like home. Thank God.

Will Act For Food designates one performance of every production as our special food-raising event, Cans For Cash. For each nonperishable food item a patron donates, he/she is given $1 off the $30 full-price ticket for the event, with no limit to this discount: one’s entire admission can be paid in food, or with any combination of cans and cash! To thank patrons for their generosity, there is a reception immediately after the show where the audience can mingle with the cast and crew while enjoying refreshments and live music. We have named our evening performance on Saturday, March 15 as our Cans for Cash night for The House of Yes. After the show, join the cast, crew, and other friends up the street at Feed the Beast (4300 N. Lincoln), for an Ides of March party with food, spirits, and live music… but hopefully no assassinations.

Interviews and photographs (either physical copies, digital files, or both) provided on request.
