WCRX Radio Hosts Sixth-Annual Holly Jolly Trolley Food Drive

CHICAGO – On Thursday December 4th, WCRX 88.1 Radio will host its 6th annual “Holly Jolly Trolley” Food Drive and radio broadcast. We will be collecting non-perishable canned goods and accepting monetary donations to give to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. This event has become a Columbia College Chicago tradition and we hope this year will be even more successful.

During the past five years, WCRX has collected more than 3,000 pounds of food and raised almost $20,000 dollars for the food depository. Our collective efforts have fed thousands of people during the holiday season.

Our broadcast and food drive resulted in this year’s prestigious National Association of Broadcasters “Service to America” award for WCRX’s efforts to serve the community.

WCRX students will broadcast live from the WCRX “Holly Jolly Trolley” and from a giant window located on the Wabash side of the 33 East Congress building. Our all day broadcast features musicians, choirs, local dignitaries and interviews with various radio, television and entertainment artists. This year our successful WCRX Holiday Auction returns, where bidders can pick up such items as autographed sporting gear, museum and theater tickets, health club memberships, and restaurant gift certificates with all proceeds going to the GCFD.
