No Country for Old Men
I’m so tired of “No Country for Old Men” running away with best picture across the board. The supporting actor deserves his praise, but even though the rest of the world disagrees with me, this film is not film-of-the-year material.

I’m really happy for “Falling Slowly” getting some attention. Once was such a great film but it had the misfortune of coming out in a year with so many good movies I think it might get lost in the shuffle. It did well by word of mouth but nowhere near as well as Juno is doing and it’s just as good if not better.
Do we have a review or interview for Once on Hollywood Chicago?

My “Once” interviews are now live! READ HERE…
Yes.
I interviewed the director of “Once” and the two leads/musicians and wrote it up. I’ll get it over to the new site soon.

I disagree. I loved the film. I watched in twice within a week.
Fine, but *why*?
Can you explain why you loved it (aside from Javier Bardem as a great villain and supporting actor?) Why was the story so interesting? Why was Josh Brolin’s performance outstanding? What else makes this such a standout film?
***Potential
***Potential Spoiler****
Tommy Lee Jones gives 2 great monologues, Javier Bardem does one. The picture was beautiful. What really won it over for me was how much of the story was told through subtext. You don’t see the shoot out with Josh Brolin’s character, you just pull up and he’s dead. And there’s the woman dead in the pool. And Tommy Lee Jones is never on the screen with Javier Bardem but the amount he knows about the killer’s character is amazing. You almost get the filling that he could catch up to him, but subconsciously he’s holding himself back since everyone else in his family have died in the line of duty. And this just paints what a sad terrible world he lives in anymore.
“You have to call it. I can’t call it for you.”
You make good points here.
You make good points here, and even with them, they make the picture sound more impressive than it felt to me. I agree that those are great elements for a great film, but ultimately, I didn’t come out of the film feeling them.
Yeeeah, Adam, You're in Pariah-Land
Do you just think it’s a bland genre movie? Are you in the I-Hate-the-End contingent? I mean, this is the Coens working at their peak of cinematic powers, bringing everything together for a completely immersivee story experience, and they do it to tell a story from one of the four best living American writers.
If you didn’t like it, you didn’t like. But, really?
