Devin Faraci at CHUD is reporting two more names for Spielberg’s (apparent next film) The Trial of the Chicago 7:

Colin Hanks (as Rennie Davis) and Jeff Daniels (as Dave Dellinger)

Vanity Fair already mentioned Sacha Baron Cohen (as Abbie Hoffman) and Philip Seymour Hoffman (as William Kunstler) along with the possibilities of Will Smith, Taye Diggs, Adam Arkin, and Kevin Spacey.

Aaron Sorkin apparently turned in a screenplay before the writers strike deadline.

Will Smith is Up for Bobby Seale

Will Smith told Collider, “When Steve is ready he will send it [the script]. I don’t know specifics, story, anything, but he told me the filming dates, so I can be free to do it. It’s not a 100% sure thing yet, but I’m confident.”

Have you seen the

Have you seen the screenplay? Are there any major female roles in the story?

Obviously the casting is going to be largely based on how faithful they are to the history of what happened at the Chicago Convention.

Right On!

This is an important piece of Chicago history, one that the power brokers want to forget but vital in the cause of people trying to make a change against war. The settings are still here (excepting I think the International Amphitheater) whether Mayor Richie will allow filmmaking here for a drama that doesn’t really reflect well on Richard the first is another story.

Cool topic, vital history that would make a terrific film if done properly.

Peace out,

Hank
