Origins of the 'Cloverfield' Monster

Turns out the origin of the “Cloverfield” monster will not go unanswered. From Film School Rejects, this contains a big spoiler about an easter egg planted into the last scene:

Well, Film School Rejects Brian Gibson and Chris Ilcisko got the inside track on the monster’s origins from the director Matt Reeves himself. If you watch the movie closely, you can see a hint of where the monster comes from.

No, not in the attack footage. Not in the news footage. In the footage from April that was accidentally erased by Hud.

This original footage doesn’t just include the budding relationship between Rob and Beth. It also has the “first” appearance of the monster.

Didn’t catch it? Well, go see the movie again, and watch carefully in the Coney Island footage at the very end. You might just see something suspicious drop into the water.

That's really disappointing.

I wish I didn’t know that. I loved how Abrams didn’t explain it in the film. I love the notion of a subtle hint I didn’t happen to catch. I hate knowing the answer, which is entirely lame.

'Cloverfield 2'

Cloverfield 2” is being completely set up to be a prequel that explains a lot that the first didn’t.

I Can't Believe It Took Me This Long to Realize

I saw it. It’s like a freaking meteor.

…But that’s the only reason the government kept the tape. That shot.

It's a satelite

It’s not a freaking meteor or the monster itself, it’s a satelite from the tagruato company that crashed in the ocean and disturbed the monster, which laid dormant at the bottom of the ocean for thousands of years! yes lay dormnant meaning it’s from our planet or was left here before we even got here.

Tagruato Company?

in my opinion it could have

in my opinion it could have either been the monster itself, or a meteor/satelite/space junk that woke the monster up. and i dont think the bug things falling off the creature were ‘part’ of it, i reckon they were parasites
