'Rambo' death chart does death math for all four films!

Just in from /Film:

“Add Two and a Half Men to my chart.”

I’m not sure Rambo knows basic math, but from the looks of this spiffy new Rambo Death Chart (!!!) attached below, he’s too busy chain-gunning evildoers and furry critter bystanders, anyhow. Wow. I’m talking “three kills a minute for the entire film” wow. For the sake of spoilers, I won’t strip down like the chemistry teacher in Breaking Bad and roll around popping huge ’80s era squibs like bubble wrap right now, but let’s just say Rambo aka Rambo IV has a good 100 more deaths than former frag-champ Rambo III. And the good guys get their fair share of the blackness as well.

I remember when I first read the plot to Rambo I thought Sly was slyly but worrisomely going straight for the Passion of the Christ crowd. Then again, considering the red flow here, maybe he still is. View the numbers after the jump, and cheers to John Mueller at the L.A. Times for his numerical prowess. January 25th is officially Rambo Day.

I’ll be screening the new “Rambo” tonight and publishing our review on it this Friday.

On or Off

So killing with your shirt on or off does help one statistics.

It's a silly statistic.

I just saw the new “Rambo” tonight (we’ll publish the review on Friday) and, as you can see in the death chart above, he doesn’t once take off his shirt in the new one. I think the maker of the chart was just trying to be funny.

In terms of the numbers in the new “Rambo,” there’s so much death so quickly that I don’t see any way in the world you could be accurate with those numbers.

Also, notice the zeroes across the board for sex scenes. What’s up with that?

Pfffft

I didn’t say anything new that the death chart didn’t already show.

THEATER, TV, DVD & BLU-RAY REVIEWS

  • Ninja Assassin Blu-Ray

CHICAGO – Maybe a film called “Ninja Assassin” starring Korean pop star Rain would be some people’s idea of a good time, but not mine. The best martial arts films are the ones that delve into the psychology of a warrior, turning grandstanding set-pieces into the artful externalization of his (or her) inner battles. “Ninja Assassin” may contain lots of martial arts, but the film is as much a work of art as a McDonald’s Happy Meal.

  • Princess and the Frog

CHICAGO – The importance of Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog” should not be underestimated in that it not only successfully brought back hand-drawn, 2D animation in an era dominated by CGI but it presented an American fairy tale for African-American children and adults everywhere. It’s a lovely little film with a few flaws that are easy to overlook with such a marvelous Blu-ray presentation.
