Uh, What Constitutes An Awards Show?

I got a good laugh when I read the WGA statement just now that “The Writers Guild of America, West will be announcing the 2008 Writers Guild Awards winners on February 9. There will be no Writers Guild of America, West show until the strike is over.” Look, I’ve been to the Writers Guild Awards and it’s a big, BIG stretch to call that a show.
