According to The Playlist, the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s lead singer is writing songs for Spike Jonze’s upcoming Where the Wild Things Are.

Not only that, but according to Jonze’s producer brother, Sam Spiegel (a.k.a. Squeak E. Clean), “Karen is doing most of the music. I’ve helped out a little with ideas, but she is pretty much doing the whole thing.”

Jonze and Karen O previously dated, and Jonze directed several Yeah Yeah Yeah’s videos.

Also, as the Playlist entry points out:

And while Jonze has a well-documented relationship with contemporary rock music as a video director, his films thus far have been mostly all traditional score material (by [Carter] Burwell) with only one major appearance of pop songs in his films (Björk’s “Amphibian” from the closing credits of “Adaptation,” we suppose the Turtles in “Adaptation” counts. Is that in the credits? We forget).

This should be intresting.

This should be intresting. After hearing what Eddie Vedder did for ‘Into the Wild,’ and what Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead did for ‘There Will Be Blood.’
