Exclusive Portrait: B.J. Novak Authors ‘The Book With No Pictures’

CHICAGO – It’s easy to recognize the author, producer and actor B.J. Novak from his many years on the TV series “The Office.” His latest project is his children’s title, “The Book with No Pictures,” and he came to Chicago last fall, for an appearance sponsored by Anderson’s Bookshop (Naperville, Ill.) at North Central College.

Benjamin Joseph Novak grew up in Massachusetts, and graduated from Harvard University in 2001. He moved to Los Angeles afterward to pursue stand-up comedy, It led to a stint on MTV’s “Punk’d,” and helped to land him the gig as the character of Ryan Howard in “The Office.” He also wrote several episodes, and eventually served as an executive producer on the show. He also appeared in the films “Inglourious Basterds” and “Saving Mr. Banks.” His new children’s title is his second book.
