CHICAGO – When faced with adversity, the best way around it is to somehow break into song. That is the feeling behind the Brown Paper Box Co.’s “Positively Present: An Uplifting Cabaret,” running April 7th and 8th at Mary’s Attic in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood. The event features company member Kristi Szczepanek as host, and presents song stylings by other company members, including Anna Schutz, plus some special guests. The 16th Edition of the Tribeca Film Festival opens on April 19th, 2017, with “Clive Davis, The Soundtrack of Our Lives.” The film chronicles the historic influence of Mr. Davis, “The Man with the Golden Ears,” who as president of Columbia Records, founder of Arista Records, CEO of RCA Music Group and currently the Chief Creative Officer of Sony Music Entertainment was behind such music luminaries as Janis Joplin, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Aerosmith, Earth Wind & Fire, Barry Manilow, Aretha Franklin, Carly Simon, the Grateful Dead, Lou Reed, Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys and Kelly Clarkson. Paula Weinstein, Executive Vice President of Tribeca Enterprises said, “The Tribeca Film Festival has a wonderful tradition of artists supporting artists, so honoring Clive Davis and his unwavering commitment to music and creativity is the perfect way to open our 16th annual festival.”
The Tribeca Film Festival was founded in 2002 by Jane Rosenthal, Craig Hatkoff and actor Robert De Niro as a reactive strike back at the September 11th attack in 2001 on New York City and the nearby Tribeca neighborhood. The 2017 Festival features screenings and awards for U.S. Narrative Films, World Narrative Films, Short Film Competition, Best Documentary, the Spotlight Competition and Best New Narrative and Documentary Filmmakers, among it’s presentations. It also has TV, Virtual Reality and Gaming presentations, and includes films from 28 countries, 78 World Premieres, six North American Premieres, two U.S. Premieres and six New York City Premieres.
