Among the ten shorts are a couple of web series episodes that were profiled on HollywoodChicago.com (click the highlighted links). Larry Ziegelman’s ”Geek Lounge” will get its Midwest Festival Premiere, right after their triumphant screening at the Manhattan Film Festival. As Larry told HC, “I loved that there could be a Geek Lounge with geek-type arguments. Imagine it’s like a Quentin Tarantino film, but the whole thing is the pop culture and geek references. That was a interesting place to me, to put situations into.”

Also screening is ”Other People’s Children” by Brad Riddell and Anna Maria Hozian. Essentially a series about teachers dealing with parents in a school system, Anna told us, “I’m a ‘helicopter parent’ in a really bad way… and we go off the deep end in that, so let’s take a minute to laugh at ourselves. And who has to deal with it more than anyone on the planet? Our poor teachers.”

The Midwest Independent Film Festival is a year-round movie event in Chicago that takes place the first Tuesday of every month, at the Landmark Century Centre Cinema. The festival has been recognized by Chicago Magazine in their “Best of Chicago” issue, and has become one of the top places for local filmmakers, producers and actors to network in the city.

The Midwest Independent Film Festival presents the 2018 Comedy Short Film Showcase on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 (6pm start), at Landmark Century Centre Cinema, 2828 North Clark Street, Chicago. For more information about the festival, click here.
