CHICAGO – When a notable filmmaker debut takes place, the cinema universe takes notice. Clare Cooney debuted her short film “Runner” on the festival circuit in 2017, and won Best USA Short Film at the Fairhope (Alabama) Film Festival. Clare Cooney Wrote, Directed, Edited and is Featured in ‘Runner’

Clare Cooney is a native of Detroit, and graduated from Notre Dame University with a degree in Psychology and Theater. She moved to Chicago to pursue acting, and also has attended the School at Steppenwolf. She has appeared (and worked as a casting director) in the Chicago indie film “Mercury in Retrograde,” and has three feature films completed or in production for 2018. “Runner” is the story of Becca (Cooney) who witnesses an event while on a run, and it keeps haunting her for months.
