CHICAGO – It was star power to the max on Saturday, October 13th, 2018, at the 54th Chicago International Film Festival (CIFF) as the cast and director of the new film Widows walked the Red Carpet, including Liam Neeson, Viola Davis and Michelle Rodriguez.

“Widows” is a highly anticipated film for fall, and the story involves the widows of four armed robbers who are killed at a failed heist attempt, only to have those left-behind wives to step in and finish the job. The All-Star cast includes Viola Davis, Michelle Rodriguez, Cynthia Erivo, Jacki Weaver, Robert Duvall and Liam Neeson, and director Steve McQueen (“12 Years a Slave”) continues his reputation for delivering unusual, in-depth and quality storytelling. The movie was filmed in Chicago, and was adapted for the screen (with McQueen) by author Gillian Flynn (“Gone Girl”).

Liam Neeson took center stage at the Red Carpet for photo opportunities only (photographer Joe Arce will publish those pictures later this week), and Viola Davis, Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Erivo represented the rest of the cast. Screenplay Adaptor Gillian Flynn and director Steve McQueen – a favorite of the Chicago International Film Festival – also posed for photos and took questions.

In the following video interview on the Red Carpet at the 54th CIFF, Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com interviews Viola Davis, Steve McQueen, Michelle Rodriguez and Gillian Flynn on their collaboration on the film “Widows.”
