Tackling one of the most controversial issues in current society, “The Red Line” involves the fatal shooting by the police of an unarmed African American man in Chicago that leaves the entire city wrestling with incident, including his grieving white husband and adopted black daughter. The series highlights themes of accountability, LGBTQ relationships, racial politics and identity. It features a cast that includes Noah Wyle, Noel Fisher, Aliyah Royale and Emayatzy Corinealdi, as well as the aforementioned Thornton and Chicago actress Elizabeth Laidlaw.

In 2014, HollywoodChicago.com was on the set of “The View From Tall,” a co-directed feature film by “The Red Line” creators Caitlyn Parrish and Erica Weiss, and featuring Michael Patrick Thornton. From those interviews, published as audio for the first time, are some reflections from the trio, as told to Patrick McDonald.

In the first soundbite, Caitlin Parrish (speaks first) and Erica Weiss of “The Red Line” talk about the best advice they received about doing a major production.
