CHICAGO – The fan gathering conventions are coming back, and a new one has emerged. The 2022 Fan Expo is the new name for the former Wizard World, which had met in pre-pandemic Chicago for years. The Fan Expo offers the same celebrity meet-and-greets, including Joel McHale (“Star Girl”), Carl Weathers (“Rocky”), Ron Perlman (“Hellboy”), Anthony Daniels (“Star Wars”), Jonathan Frakes (“Star Trek; TNG”) and director Kevin Smith (“Clerks”).

CHICAGO – Three days to go before the two-day ‘Mainframe Comic Con’ – a completely free-to-join online comic book convention – will kick off, and on the first day (Saturday, April 25th) a rush of movie nostalgia will take place when actress Claudia Wells will be a guest representing the original “Back to the Future.” Wells portrayed Marty McFly’s girlfriend Jennifer Parker in that classic film.

CHICAGO – The “Days of the Dead” convention is an annual gathering in Chicago and elsewhere, that brings together admirers of the horror film genre, cult movies enthusiasts and panel discussions on a myriad of subjects related to film and collectibles. Several celebrities also attended the Chicago event, including Danny Trejo of the “Machete” film series, Jason Mewes and Brian O’Halloran of “Clerks,” and Joanna Cassidy of “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?,” and they posed for the HollywoodChicago.com camera.

The director/writer/actor and comic book geek supreme has a new book out called “Tough Sh*t: Life Advice from a Fat, Lazy Slob Who Did Good.” In it, he relates how his unlikely empire was built, and how he became the force within it. He was recently in downtown Chicago, promoting the life lessons at Books-a-Million on March 30th.
