CHICAGO – It was a night to celebrate film, filmmakers, movie stars and the Chicago “school” of film criticism. The annual Chicago Film Critics Awards took place on February 9th in front of a packed house at the Muvico Theater in Rosemont, Ill. Mark DeCarlo of “Windy City Live” was the host, and celebrity appearances included Jane Lynch, Paul Sorvino, Joe Piscopo, Nadine Velaquez and Regina Taylor.

CHICAGO – Three short films, all produced and shot in Chicago, made their debut on Thursday, January 24th, at the Muvico 18 in Rosemont, Ill. The “Short in Chicago Film Fiesta” featured “Fate Accompli,” “Dear Dad” and “Crtl + Life + Delete,” and the production teams and actors in the films were in attendance, as well as a large audience.

CHICAGO – Last Thursday, January 17th, the 2013 Latino Film Festival kicked off its event activities by revealing their official poster. The poster was designed by Jori Cicale, a local graphic art student, and was selected from over 150 designs submitted. The 29th Chicago Latino film festival will take place from April 11th-25th.

CHICAGO – One of the most unique happenings in Chicago every year is “The Hollywood Show.” This annual event presents celebrities from TV and film, both from the nostalgic past and the current scene. In September of 2012, the show included Loni Anderson (“WKRP in Cincinnati”), Oscar Winner Martin Landau and the reunited cast of “Lost in Space,” all meeting fans and signing autographs.
