CHICAGO – The Chicago International Film Festival (CIFF) kicks off its 51st year by presenting their annual Television Awards on April 22, 2015. The Awards honors innovative and outstanding members of the television community, in production and advertising. The honorees include Whitehouse Post production house, TV newscaster Jay Levine (Investigative Journalism) and ‘Chicago Legend in Advertising’ Tom Burrell.

CHICAGO – The Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo, popularly known as “C2E2,” is coming back to the Windy City next month, Friday, April 24th through Sunday, April 26th. The three day event draws many celebrities, comic book artists and memorabilia vendors. CHICAGO – The City of Chicago has more than their share of Hollywood here, as represented by local filmmakers Lana and Andy Wachowski. The siblings have made sure that the Windy City is well represented in their latest science fiction film release, “Jupiter Ascending.” Chicago plays a prominent role in the film, which opened on February 6th, 2015.

CHICAGO – Last August, the 2014 Wizard World Comic Con came to Chicago, and featured cast members from “The Walking Dead,” among other film and television celebrities. Another edition of the popular convention, called “Fan Fest,” is taking place next month in Chicagoland, March 7th and 8th, 2015, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill.

CHICAGO – 2015 may prove to be huge year for the actress, model and young adult author Bella Thorne. The 17-year-old has many irons in the fire, including roles in several upcoming films this new year. The author in her was in Chicagoland last November, appearing at Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville, Ill., on behalf of her new novel in the “Autumn Falls.”

CHICAGO – Tongues were wagging as Gene Simmons, “The Demon” of the rock band KISS, made an appearance in Downers Grove, Ill., to greet fans and sign his new book “Me, Inc.: Build an Army of One, Unleash Your Inner Rock God, Win in Life and Business”. The appearance was took place on October 28th, 2014, at the Tivoli Theater and was sponsored by Anderson’s Bookshop of Napervillle, Ill.

CHICAGO – The 2014 edition of the 50th Chicago International Film Festival kicked off on October 9th with a spectacular presentation of “Miss Julie,” directed by the legendary Liv Ullmann, featuring Colin Ferrell and Jessica Chastain. The following evening was the Black Perspective Gala, at which the spotlight was on “Beyond the Lights,” starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood.

CHICAGO – The irrepressible character of Kurt Hummel from the popular TV series “Glee” came to Naperville, Ill. in the guise of Chris Colfer: the actor who portrays him. Colfer is also an author and was at Anderson’s Bookshop to greet fans and promote his book “The Land of Stories: A Grimm Warning”.

CHICAGO – Cyberspace has been all abuzz in the last couple of days as “Weird Al” Yankovic released his newest parody song, “Tacky,” which skewers Pharrell William’s “Happy.” The video for “Tacky” features Aisha Tyler, Margaret Cho, Kristen Schaal and Jack Black, and is part of Weird Al’s new album, “Mandatory Fun.”
