CHICAGO – There’s “potential” all over FOX’s highly-anticipated “Alcatraz,” debuting tonight, January 16th, 2012 with two back-to-back episodes. A great cast, strong production pedigree, interesting concept — so why are both of the first two episodes so forgettable? Why is this show more “meh” than amazing?

Combining nostalgia, suspense and of course, hope, “Super 8” is one of the more emotional and impactful American films of the year.

TV News: FOX Announces 2012 Mid-Season Schedule

CHICAGOFOX just announced their premiere dates for the 2011-2012 midseason including exactly when to tune in for the return of “American Idol,” along with the highly-anticipated premieres of J.J. Abrams’ “Alcatraz,” new mystery “The Finder,” Kiefer Sutherland drama “Touch,” and the animated adaptation of “Napoleon Dynamite.” They also scheduled the return of two nearly-canceled shows — “Breaking In” and “Bob’s Burgers” — along with announcing that “I Hate My Teenage Daughter,” “Glee,” and “Bones” will be taking some time off in the winter, returning with new episodes in the spring.

CHICAGO – I’m curious to see where “Person of Interest” is going and I guess that’s all that really matters when it comes to a series premiere. The ultimate test of a pilot is a simple one — Will you watch episode two? Does it hook you enough to keep you coming back and maybe even tell your friends to do the same? People will be talking about the premiere of “Person of Interest” and buzz matters.

CHICAGO- This afternoon, Paramount Pictures announced the release date for their film “Super 8” on Blu-Ray will be Nov. 22, 2011. The release was announced in a statement that says the film will be sold in a Blu-Ray/DVD combination pack that also includes a Digital Copy for use on your computer or mobile device.

Film News: J.J. Abrams Signs Up to Direct ‘Star Trek 2’

CHICAGO- J.J. Abrams, one of the biggest growing names in Hollywood, has signed on to direct “Star Trek 2” according to Entertainment Weekly. Abrams, who directed the 2009 “Star Trek,” brought in $385 million worldwide at the box office with the reboot of the Sci-Fi film series.
