Film Review: ‘Hostiles’ with Christian Bale is a Big Bad Bore

CHICAGO – “Hostiles” is an exercise in prestige western boredom. It’s competently made, but its as lifeless as a scalped corpse on the prairie. It’s long on pretty western locales and impressive facial hair, but short on story, characters, or much of anything else to help keep your eyelids from closing.

Video: Trailer For Western Shooter ‘Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood’

Call of Juarez

CHICAGO – One of the most highly anticipated games of the summer is Ubisoft’s “Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood” and the company sent over the brand-new, totally sweet preview for the Western shooter that we can’t wait to play. It’s for adults only, so check it out if you’re the right age and tell us what you think in the comments below.

DVD Review: Bumpy Ride to ‘Appaloosa’ is Worth the Trip

Appaloosa

CHICAGO – I expect “Appaloosa” to be one of the more hard-to-get movies at your local video stores for the next few months. It’s the kind of movie - action-driven and widely missed in theaters - that does very well on the home market. Renters will find an old-fashioned Western that may not transcend its genre but will certainly provide more than enough entertainment on a snowy winter’s eve.

CHICAGO – Local filmmaking is thriving, thanks to the many creators who choose to make independent movies in Chicago. Co-directors Stirling McLaughlin and J. Wilder Konschak (also writer) brought their cast and crew to the Windy City to make their comedy, “Cold War.” The film made its digital debut on April 6th, 2018, and will be available on iTunes, Google Play, FandangoNow, Amazon, Vudu and more.
