CHICAGO – A fascinating documentary on the essence of ardent hockey fanatics is in “The Fan Connection’ by Mary Wall, her debut film. Wall is originally from the Buffalo, New York, area and observed the hope that the Buffalo Sabres NHL hockey team gave the sports crazy city, which resulted in her chronicle in “The Fan Connection.” The film will screen at the Wilmette (Illinois) Theatre on October 7th and 8th, with an appearance by Mary Wall. CHICAGO – She’s an Emmy Winner for a television character that lived in a different America, 60 years ago. Rachel Brosnahan is “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” of Amazon Prime, portraying Miriam “Midge” Maisel, a potential stand-up comic in a late 1950s era, when that was something a woman didn’t necessarily consider. She appears on behalf of the Wilmette (Illinois) Actors Training Center on Friday, October 19th, 2018, at a fundraiser for that organization, for which she is an alumni. CHICAGO – The aim of the LUNAFEST Short Film Festival is to promote awareness regarding women’s issues, to highlight women filmmakers and to bring together women in their communities. The Wilmette (Illinois) Theatre of Chicagoland is hosting the 15th Annual LUNAFEST on April 15th, 2016 (7pm), with a screening of the main traveling program of six short films, plus two more shorts by local women filmmakers, followed by a panel discussion moderated by film critic Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com.
