CHICAGO – Like the awesome Engine Who Could, the mighty Nothing Without a Company stage crafters have constructed another triumph at their new home in Berger Mansion on Chicago’s north side. “The Kid Thing” – written by Sarah Gubbins – is a terse, convincing and emotional play about fear, identity and breeding, and it is performed by its cast of five with utter authenticity. CHICAGO – The Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) was recently in town, and the geek world was in heaven. For three days, the best in the comic book, entertainment, TV and movie world were gathered at the McCormick Place convention center on the near south side.
CHICAGO – The Chicago premiere of “Barbershop: The Next Cut” took place in March of 2016, and what made it special is that the principle cast walked the Red Carpet and did a “tour” of the city to promote the film. CHICAGO – The new NBC series “Game of Silence” premiered on a special Tuesday night rollout (April 12th, 2016), and one of the co-stars in the ensemble, Larenz Tate, was recently in Chicago at STUDIO XFINITY to promote the show. Tate is a Chicago born actor – his brothers Larron and Lahmard are also actors – and he also had a featured role in the cult TV series “Rescue Me.” The regular time slot for “Game of Silence” will be Thursdays at 10pmET/9pmCT.
CHICAGO – There are rock stars, and then there are the women of “The Runaways.” The girl group that spawned Joan Jett was also notable for proving that punk rock was not just reserved for dudes. Lita Ford, the lead guitarist, has just written a memoir of those heady days – “Living Like a Runaway” – and appeared recently at North Central College in Naperville, Ill., at an event sponsored by Anderson’s Bookshop.
