HollywoodChicago.com film critic Patrick McDonald wrote in his 1.0 out of 5.0 review of the new film “Deal” with Burt Reynolds and Shannon Elizabeth:
“Deal” recycles every nuance of every underdog sports movie – from “Rocky” to “Rudy” to “Invincible” – but not well. Burt Reynolds plays a mysterious stranger like he needs a three-year nap. Even when his character is in supposed triumph, his demeanor radiates defeat. It was acting as paycheck cashing that only a star of his magnitude could achieve.
