Dustin recently requested this feature on the HC discussion boards for us to look into installing:
Is there a module you can install to the forums that makes it easier to hyperlink, bold, italicize, etc. just by highlighting the text and pressing a button? Kind of like I have in my Gmail or on AIM? The buttons just make things so much faster.
