Director Alain Renais — who was not only one of the French New Wave’s founding fathers with “Hiroshima mon Amour,” and whose most recent film “Private Fears in Public Places” ended up on several of 2007’s Best of lists — secured funding for his next film, reports Variety.

The 85-year-old’s pic is an adaptation of a novel by Christian Gailly. Cast includes Resnais regulars Sabine Azema, Andre Dussollier, Mathieu Amalric and Emmanuelle Devos.
