Here is “The Runaways” plot description:

“The Runaways” follows two friends – Joan Jett (Kristen Stewart) and Cherie Currie (Dakota Fanning) – as they rise from rebellious southern California kids to rock stars of the now-legendary group that paved the way for future generations of girl bands. They fall under the Svengali-like influence of rock impresario Kim Fowley (Michael Shannon) who turns the group into an outrageous success and a family of misfits.

With its tough-chick image and raw talent, the band quickly earns a name for itself and so do its two leads. Joan is the band’s pure rock ’n roll heart while Cherie (with her Bowie-Bardot looks) is the sex kitten.

“The Runaways” trailer can be watched now below.

Girl bands

Girl bands often have a different view on life & love (as the subjects of many of their songs)…

The Runaways

Simply that they were doing what they absolutely loved and as a result, paved the way for so many women to come.

Was In One

Being that I was actually *in* a “girl band,” I can say that the best thing about a girl band is that there is a camaraderie that is unlike any other musical collaboration. There’s none of the bravada & macchissimo that guy bands have. Women in bands genuinely want to see each other succeed, and they have such a huge drive to do so (considering that their main obstacle is, unfortunately, their gender & the public’s incorrect assumption that they are somehow not as talented as their male counterparts). When a woman rocks a wicked bass line or bangs on the drums or slashes through a guitar solo, it’s exhilerating. & when a woman opens her mouth to sing, in a growling rock belt … hold onto your seats, man.

HOT!

Their attitude makes them so HOT! They are more outspoken, they put a lot of energy into their music. Think of all the successful girl bands from past and present.

-B-52’s
-Indigo Girls
-Spice Girls
-Hole (Courtney Love)
-Wild Orchid (Fergie)

Keep them coming women…I love the girl bands!
