Here is the plot description for “The Cartel”:

Teachers punished for speaking out. Principals fired for trying to do the right thing. Union leaders defending the indefensible. Bureaucrats blocking new charter schools. These are just some of the people we meet in “The Cartel”. The film also introduces us to teens who can’t read, parents desperate for change and teachers struggling to launch stable and alternative schools for inner-city kids who want to learn.

“The Cartel” shows us our educational system like we’ve never seen it before. Behind every dropout factory lurks a powerful, entrenched and self-serving cartel. The film draws an unequivocal bottom line: If we care about the future of our children, we must insist upon far-reaching and immediate reform. And we must do it now.

Education Reform

I would encourage and require the Parents of all children to be involved in their children’s education and homework. Studies have shown that when the parents are actively involved, the children do better and learn more in school. Having the parents actively involved shows the children that education is valued and important.

EDUCATIONAL CHANGES

I would make “No Child Left Behind,” mean something. In our small community, I paid dearly for a reading tutor to help my child to read. The Private and Public Schools he attended did very little to help him.
