How did Captain America get his name? Captain America got his name by a writer named Joe Simon who conceived the idea and liked it. :0)

Captain America got his name in both these ways. When developing the comic Joe Simon decided to make the Captain America character and drew him naming him at first “Super American.” He decided this was too generic because there were many heroes with super in their names and decided to go with “Captain,” because there were not any Captain heroes.
Secondly, when Steve Rogers was given the super soldier serum that made him Captain America he was literally told by the U.S. Government that he will be named Captain America. he took this in stride andd strove to uphold the honor and strength of the nation he represents.
