The film opens on Aug. 5, 2011.

Here is the plot description for “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”:

In this origins story set in present-day San Francisco, a scientist’s tampering with the laws of nature take him to the brink of a medical revolution. All the while, it also leads to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.
