CHICAGO – More than 23 years ago, New York cop John McClane was introduced to the world. Now, a release date, plot, and title has been set for the fifth film in the “Die Hard” series that will play in theaters almost 25 years after the first film was released.

Talked about for months as “Die Hard 5,” the fifth film has finally been given the title “A Good Day to Die Hard.” Perhaps it’s just me, but I don’t think the title has the appeal like a “Die Hard with a Vengeance” or “Live Free or Die Hard.”

20th Century Fox also released the plot for the new film which can be found on Worst Previews : “Since the first “Die Hard” in 1988, John McClane (Bruce Willis) has found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, with the skills and attitude to always be the last man standing, making him enemy #1 for terrorists the world over. Now, McClane faces his greatest challenge ever, this time on an international stage, when his estranged son Jack is caught up in the daring prison escape of a rogue Russian leader, and father and son McClane must work together to keep each other alive and keep the world safe for democracy.”

The new film has a release date set for February 14, 2013. This will make it four years since the fourth film, “Live Free or Die Hard,” and the first film to take John McClane overseas. McClane will once again be played by Bruce Willis, but no one else has been confirmed for any of the other roles in the film. John Moore (“Max Payne”) will take the directorial reigns for the fifth installment in the series.
