CHICAGO – Ever since the final moments of the last episode of ‘Arrested Development’ (back in 2006), there have been rumors about a feature film being created for the TV series. Cast members and writers would be asked, “when is this movie coming out?” and responses would usually be “we are working on it” or “it’s coming.” Now, after six years, those responses may actually be true.

After news came out last October that a deal was being made with Netflix for a new season of ‘Arrested Development’ and a movie to follow the revival season, writer Dean Lorey has confirmed on his blog that Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, Jeffrey Tambor, David Cross, Michael Cera, Portia De Rossi, Tony Hale, Alia Shawkat, and Jessica Walter are all confirmed for the new revival season, as well as Lorey’s fellow writers Mitch Hurwitz and Jim Vallely.

Here is what the blog post says: “ We’re really doing this thing. Mitch Hurwitz, Jim Vallely and I are off writing the new season of ARRESTED to premiere on Netflix in 2013. The original cast is back. There are offices and parking spaces. We’re shooting this year. I wish I could give more specifics but, for the moment, even the schedule is being kept under wraps. But it’s happening and it’s great to be back with my pals from the show. More later as it becomes okay to release further details…

While my mind tells me to not get my hopes up after years of false rumors, it is hard not to believe the most recent “Arrested Development” news. Of course, we cannot be sure of anything until we actually turn on our Netflix and see new episodes of one of the greatest comedy series ever waiting to be watched.
