United Artists 90th Anniversary Film Festival

So why these now? On March 11, 2008, we announced a classic film celebration coming to Chicago called the United Artists 90th Anniversary Film Festival, which will take place at the historic Music Box Theatre at 3733 N. Southport Ave. from April 4 to 10, 2008 and then again from May 9 to 15, 2008.

Several of the films above and others of similar caliber are being brought back into the theater for this limited engagement on the occasion of 90 years of film for MGM and United Artists. United Artists says the Chicago festival, which will comprise the largest catalog event in video history, is leading up to the public release of many of these titles on DVD.

    HAS TO BEWEST SIDE STORY
As a girl of 7 yrs.old it was only one of the two films my Mom me attended by
ourselves. So not only was I enthralled with all the drama of this tragic love story, and the turmoil of the neighborhood, but also the beautiful sets, fatastic dancing, singing and Natalie Wood,Rita Moreno and the rest of the great cast, but my Mom and me had a special time together I will never ever forget!

    Favorite Movie

While so many of these movies are wonderful, Rainman was just a compelling movie with alot of heart. Sometimes I felt so sorry for him and other times I was just in awe. It certainly gave me a whole new perspective about people with disabilities - made me realize that while one might lack in some areas, they more than make up for it in others.

And - thank you for this wonderful contest, it’s an amazing prize!

    Favorite?

This is tough - so many good films here. But, since I am a huge Stephen King fan AND I love everything Halloween and scary, I would have to say Carrie. This movie made me wish I had that kind of power! It was a purely entertaining movie and fulfilled that role very well.

United Artists 90th Anniversary Film Festival

My favorite film in the list is “Raging Bull”. I think it’s such a great film that it’s hard to single out just one compelling reason. For one thing, DeNiro turned in a bravura acting performance. (The supporting players also gave some of the finest performaces of their careers.) For another thing, there’s the bold, beautiful, retro black and white cinematography. And of course, Scorsese’s direction was masterful.
