CHICAGO – We didn’t see this one coming. Starz has canceled their most highly-acclaimed drama “Boss,” starring Kelsey Grammer, Golden Globe-winner less than a year ago. The show had a number of critics on its side but the ratings never matched the press and Starz has decided not to re-elect the program for a third year.

The network said in a statement, “After much deliberation, we have made the difficult decision to not proceed with Boss. We remain proud of this award-winning show, its exceptional cast and writers, and are grateful to Kelsey Grammer, Farhad Safinia and our partners at Lionsgate TV.

They will be moving forward quickly at Starz with four dramas on the slate including the final season of “Spartacus,” second season of “Magic City,” and new shows — “The White Queen” and “Da Vinci’s Demons.”
