Blu-ray Review: ‘Movie 43’ Should Get Dozens of Agents Fired
CHICAGO – “Movie 43” is sometimes, most of the time, breathtakingly awful. It’s the kind of material that would get booed on “America’s Got Talent,” gonged on “The Gong Show,” and kicked out of an open mic night at a local comedy club. It’s just insanely stupid. And baffling. Not one, not two, but dozens of people, many of them incredibly talented, thought “Yeah, that’s funny. This works.” How did that happen? Seriously, there’s a documentary to be made about the generalized stupidity that led to “Movie 43”. Presuming the cast and crew haven’t paid a hypnotist to wipe it from their memories by now. You’ll want to as well.
Rating: 1.0/5.0 |
It really feels like some of the cast of “Movie 43” must have thought they weren’t really making a movie. How else to explain how Oscar nominees get sucked into a bit about a guy with balls on his chin? How could I feel any worse for Chloe Grace Moretz in a sketch that treats a a girl getting her period for the first time as a joke? How did ANYONE think the iBabe commercials/concept/anything were remotely humorous? Seriously. “Movie 43” doesn’t produce laughs. It demands answers.
This is one of those films that could find a life on Blu-ray and DVD for people fascinated by its absolute worthlessness. It is like a car accident. You just have to look. It would help if you were drunk or stoned first. I think some people who made it were.
Movie 43 was released on Blu-ray and DVD on June 18, 2013
