Film News: 30th Chicago Latino Film Festival Closes With ‘I Am From Chile’

CHICAGO – April 17th, 2014 is closing night for the 30th Chicago Latino Film Festival. The CLFF is celebrating its 30th year, making it one of the oldest festivals of its kind in the United States. The closing film is ‘I Am From Chile,” which is followed by the presentation of the Gloria Achievement Award to actress Paulina Garcia.

“I Am From Chile” involves Salvador (Diego Ruiz), a Chilean native who moves to London to learn English, who stays with his Aunt Maria (Paulina Garcia) who rents rooms in that city to other immigrants. When a financial crisis leaves him broke, he is forced to take a series of short-term but dangerous jobs. The festival wraps up with a whole slate of films on April 17th, click here for more details.

The Chicago Latino Film Festival began in 1985 with 14 films projected on a wall for 500 attendees to it’s present two week schedule and attendance near 35,000. The 2014 Gloria Award Recipient is Paulina Garcia of “I Am From Chile.”
