CHICAGO – It has been a week of spectacular cinema treats at the 7th Chicago Critics Film Festival, and tonight it wraps up with “Light from Light,” a 2019 multi-festival recognized film. Write/director Paul Harrill and lead actor (and comedian) Jim Gaffigan will appear on behalf of the film, at 8:30pm on Thursday, May 23rd, 2019 at Chicago’s Music Box Theatre. Single mom Shelia (Marin Ireland), gifted with sometimes prophetic dreams, moonlights as a paranormal investigator while working at a car-rental service counter and raising her teenage son, Owen (Josh Wiggins). After her appearance on a local radio program, she’s contacted by Richard (Jim Gaffigan), a recent widower who thinks his departed wife may be “haunting” his East Tennessee farmhouse. Agreeing to help, Shelia brings along Owen and his classmate Lucy in hopes of understanding the mystery.

The Chicago Critics Film Festival is the only such fest with films selected by Windy City critics, mostly from the the major film festivals in the first four months of the year. With a week-long selection of shorts, narrative, documentary and filmmaker/performer appearances, the festival is a cabaret of excellence in cinema. And this celebration takes place at the historic Music Box Theatre in Chicago, with all the screenings there, plus the opportunity to hang out at the MB’s lounge and outdoor patio.

The 7th Chicago Critics Film Festival runs from May 17th through May 23rd, 2019, at the Music Box Theatre, 3733 North Southport, Chicago. For the CCFF website, click here.
