CHICAGO – The Class of 2020 certainly got the rawest of deals, as the Coronavirus quarantine shut down college campuses all over the country, depriving Seniors of their final days. This included Chicago’s DePaul University, affecting one of their Class of 2020 actor grads (BFA), Eamon Hurd.

Hurd is from the nearby Chicago suburb Park Ridge, and came to the city to partake in The Theatre School at DePaul University, one of the finest in the country. In Hurd’s four years, the student performer developed an impressive stage resume, including a turn in Shakespeare’s “Measure for Measure.” The actor also had experience at The Second City in their Youth & Teen ensemble, and professionally has contributed to “The Polar Express” holiday train experience at Union Station in Chicago.

DePaul University itself will celebrate its Class of 2020 in a virtual ceremony on June 13th, highlighted by special guest Joe Keery (“Stranger Things”), who himself has a BFA in acting from The Theatre School at the university. Each school or college within the institution will have its own dedicated online ceremony, as DePaul launches 6,250 graduates into our ever-changing world.

Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com talked to Eamon Hurd via Zoom, and in Part One the actor talks about finishing a degree in a challenging year.

In Part Two, Hurd contemplates the journey from youth to actor, and the passion of their generation in the fight for social justice and systemic change.

Finally, a sample of Eamon’s acting skill, in his Graduate Showcase from the The Theatre School at DePaul University.
