CHICAGO – At the point HollywoodChicago.com last talked to author Lorraine Evanoff, it was during the summer reading season, during the time her latest novel “Pinot Noir” – the second novel featuring financial sleuth Louise Moscow – was winning awards and appearing on best seller lists.

To expand upon the first interview, Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com recently sat down with Lorraine Evanoff again, and posted the talks on his YouTube channel (Pat Über TV). The revealing Q&As get deeper into the characteristics of creating Louise Moscow, including a part about general life philosophies and approach to her writings.

The Part One interview is about Evanoff’s debut novel “Foliage,” that featured the heroic protagonist Louise Moscow in her initial adventure. In the novel, Moscow is pursuing a financial mystery, involving an international bank and its famous history. As she gets closer to some revealing truths, government law enforcement steps in – including the FBI, CIA, Interpol and her prosecutor father – and recruits her to be an operative from the inside. At the same time she begins a love affair with an undercover agent, Jean-Philippe, who has a mysterious past of his own.

The Part Two interview is about Evanoff’s current novel, “Pinot Noir,” which takes place about seven years after the end of “Foliage” … in and around September 11th, 2001. After being forced into witness protection program after exposing the banking case in Book One, Louise has a new life and new identity as Karen Baker, a teacher who has bought a Tiki Bar on a remote island after “receiving an inheritance.” Her connection to government agencies finally free her to investigate another case in France, but this mystery has implications in the killing of a prominent financier (based on a real-life murder) and a Jeffrey Epstein-like sex ring.

The Part Three interview profiles Lorraine Evanoff herself. She was born in Chicagoland and was a graduate of DePaul University. She moved to Paris after college and was involved in the European film industry while she lived there, even garnering a small role in the filmmaker Krzysztof Kieślowski classic “The Double Life of Veronique.” She switched gears and pursued finance on her return to the U.S., including a stint as CFO of the National Lampoon corporation. She currently lives in Los Angeles, and has a screenplay in development.
