Adapted from youth fiction, the plot involves Gramps (De Niro) moveing into his daughter’s home and being assigned the bedroom of his grandson (Oakes Fegley). This development is the impetus for the conflict. Similar to “Meet the Parents,” the film uses De Niro’s image as a tough guy for comedy. The cast includes Uma Thurman as his daughter, Jane Seymour as De Niro’s potential girlfriend, as well as Christopher Walken and Cheech Marin (of Cheech and Chong fame) as De Niro’s best friends
