CHICAGO – Just because the majority of the 56th Chicago International Film Festival (CIFF) will be virtual and online, doesn’t mean that there won’t be filmmaker and talent appearances. Highlights for appearances for the 56th CIFF include “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” Rachel Brosnahan (for “I’m Your Woman”), legendary filmmaker Werner Herzog (for “Fireball: Visions from Darker Worlds) and director Steve James of “Hoop Dreams” (for “City So Real”). Suggested Streaming Start Time, 12:10pm. 9:00pm: “The Road Up” … Livestream Q&A with directors Greg Jacobs & Jon Siskel and subject Jesse Teverbaugh. Suggested Streaming Start Time, 7:15pm.

FILM OF THE DAY: “Belushi” - Last night’s Opener is a different kind of bio documentary, directed by R.J. Cutler. The film peers at the life of John Belushi – the 1970s/80s comic force on “Saturday Night Live” (original cast), “Animal House” and “The Blues Brothers” – through the prism of his roots in Wheaton, Illinois, as part of a first generation immigrant family. It also examines his unique ambition, that spiraled away from him when overwhelming fame infiltrated his life. As the film proves, we are victims of our own circumstances (click here).
