Rating: 5.0/5.0

“Sound of Metal” has Ruben (Riz Ahmed), a heavy metal drummer for Blackgammon, fronted by his girlfriend Lou (Olivia Cooke). They live a carefree rock star life on the road, traveling from gig to gig in their RV. This world takes a turn when Ruben suddenly begins to profoundly lose his hearing, going from normal to about 20%. He can’t make out speech or the rigors of his drumming, and has no choice but to learn how to be deaf at a halfway house.

“Sound of Metal” is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Featuring Riz Ahmed, Olivia Cooke, Paul Raci and Mathieu Amalric. Screenplay by and directed by Darius Marder. Rated “PG-13”
