Of course the famous American musical s a spin on the Romeo and Juliet story … set in the early 1960s West Side of New York City, as the crumbling neighborhood is torn down to make way for the 16.5 acre Lincoln Center project. Two street gangs, the white ethnic Jets – led by Riff (Mike Faist) and Tony (Ansel Elgort of “Baby Driver”) – and the Puerto Rican Sharks, led by Bernardo (David Alvarez), fight for the ever-shrinking territory. Complications arise when Tony meets and falls in love with Maria (Rachel Zegler), a Sharks girl and Bernardo’s sister. Their star-crossed relationship determines the fate of everything moving forward.

“West Side Story” opens in theaters on December 10th. Featuring Ansel Elgort, Rachel Zegler, Ariana DeBose, David Alvarez, Mike Faist, Corey Stoll and Rita Moreno. Screenplay adapted by Tony Kushner. Directed by Steven Spielberg. Rated “PG-13”
