The Awards honored the films that screened during the 2021 season. With stories that range from comedy to documentary to even experimental, the 'Best of the Midwest Showcase' will have something for everybody. The screening will begin at 7:15 PM showcasing six short films. Audience members can then enjoy a short intermission to network with filmmakers and other attendees. The screening will resume with a feature film and afterward a filmmaker Q&A.

The Midwest Film Festival (formerly the Midwest Independent Film Festival) has been a staple in Chicago’s film community for 15 years. At the beginning of 2020, it reinvented with a new name and a new outlook, facilitated by new Executive Director Erica Duffy. Two years and one pandemic era later, the Festival thrives by bringing together the Chicago film community, and reinstates the traditional First Tuesdays… and will have festival screenings each month on that day.
