“The Shiny Shrimp Strike Back” is a sequel to a previous REELING festival favorite “The Shiny Shrimps” (2019). It’s back into the pool with this endearing water polo crew and their hunky and straight … though gay friendly … Coach Matthias. Still recovering from the death of their teammate Jean, the Shrimps are heading to the Gay Games in Tokyo. After missing a connecting flight, they find themselves stranded deep in one of the most homophobic regions in the world: Russia!

The Opening Night Party, immediately following the film and also at the Music Box Lounge and outdoor garden, includes complimentary hors d’oeuvres and libations with admission, and will be hosted by Honey West. And since it’s the REELING 40th anniversary, North America’s oldest LGBTQ+ film fest is inviting stars from four decades … Elton John, Ziggy Stardust, Prince and Tina Turner are all scheduled to attend … of course, REELING40 cannot guarantee that these are the actual stars and not just uncanny lookalikes. Click link in the first paragraph for tickets and info.

The 40th edition of REELING International LBGTQ+ Film Festival runs from September 22nd through October 6th, 2022. For tickets, schedule and all information, click REELINGFilmFestival.org.
