Title character Beau is portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, who lives in a futuristic American urban center, where law and order has broken down, and hope seems gone. At the same time, he is planning a trip to see his mother (Patti Lupone), but several situations prevent that from happening. When a tragedy occurs, he becomes more motivated then ever to get back to Mommy, but not without some other intense obstacles to overcome.

”Beau is Afraid” is currently in theaters, since April 21st. Featuring Joaquin Phoenix, Patti Lupone, Zoe Lister-Jones, Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan, Richard Kind and Parker Posey. Written and directed by Ari Aster. Rated “R”
