CHICAGO – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com appears on “The Morning Mess” with Scott Thompson on WBGR-FM (Monroe, Wisconsin) on September 7th, 2023, reviewing “Sitting in Bars with Cake,” an adaptation of a cookbook memoir by Audrey Shulman. In theaters on September 8th.

Jane (Yaro Shahidi) is a mousey gal who loves to bake. Her roommate Corinne (Odessa A’zion) loves to party. So they combine the two talents and make a plan to visit 50 bars with 50 cakes all over La-La Land. What they didn’t expect is that Corinne would start to have headaches, that turns out to be cancer. Despite pleas from her parents (Ron Livingston and Martha Kelly) to come home to Arizona, Corrine stays in L.A. and is cared for by Jane and her group of friends. Even as she gets more ill, the cakes and the bars they go to are still in the mix.
