Rating: 4.5/5.0

The two part doc is split into two sides of his career. In Part One (“Then”), the development and story of how Steve Martin took comedy to the rock and roll level from the mid-1970s to his abrupt “walking away” from his act in 1980 … at the height of his fame. In Part Two (“Now”), it’s the rest of the story, mostly his film career, but also a unique glimpse of an icon looking backwards through a prism of – given his admittedly shy personality – true satisfaction.

“Steve! (Martin): A Documentary in 2 Pieces” is streaming on Apple TV+ beginning March 29th. Featuring Steve Martin. Directed by Morgan Neville. Rated “PG-13”
