CHICAGO – The Midwest Film Festival (MFF) presents “Analog Shorts Night” on September 30th, 2024, and one of the shorts (“Where’s South?”) is co-directed by Lua Borges, who also represents the evening’s co-presenter Cinema Luz, the MFF September “Community Spotlight.” Click ANALOG for tickets and information.

“Analog Shorts Night” is an evening dedicated to films that are non-digital in creation, for example old video formats and good old celluloid film, in powerful short films that tell compelling stories (line up on the poster below). In September’s Community Spotlight conversation, the MFF will highlight Lua Borges and Cinema Luz regarding the organization’s work to expand the availability of resources for analog filmmakers, and how platforming these artists is essential to the community at large.

The Midwest Film Festival has been a staple in Chicago’s film community for since 2004. At the beginning of 2020, the festival was reinvented with a a new outlook and name, facilitated by Executive Director Erica Duffy (who recently announced the end of her term). It remains one of the most influential and provocative film festivals in the city.
