CHICAGO – The third installment of “After Dark Horrorfest” launches this week at the AMC Barrington 30 and AMC Pipers Alley in Chicago and other theaters around the country. After Dark sent over the details on the eight movies that are “to die for” this year - “Autopsy,” “The Broken,” “The Butterfly Effect: Revelation,” “Dying Breed,” From Within,” “Perkins’ 14,” “Slaughter,” and “Voices”.

Horror fans will tell you that the “After Dark Horrorfest” always produces an interesting movie or two, including the first year’s excellent “The Hamiltons” and the great “Borderland” from last year.

What will be this year’s horrific diamond in the rough? Will it be the second sequel to “The Butterfly Effect”? The Asian horror of “Voices”? The sick-looking Robert Patrick in “Autopsy”? Find out for yourself on Friday.

The official synopsis for each film follows, plus the official schedule and 20 images from the movies.

“Autopsy”: A young woman tries to find her injured boyfriend in a bizarre and dangerous hospital.

“The Broken”: “The Broken” is a psychological horror project, starring Lena Headey as a woman whose life descends into nightmare after she sees an apparent double of herself driving by in her own car.

“The Butterfly Effect: Revelation”: A young man discovers he has inherited the powers of “The Butterfly Effect” and attempts to solve the mystery of his high school girlfriend’s death using his newfound ability, only to unwittingly unleash a vicious serial killer.

“Dying Breed”: Inspired by the legends of a 19th-century cannibal and an extinct tiger, this brutal horror-thriller centers on four friends who find out that something—or someone—murderous lurks in the rain-slogged Australian bush.

“From Within”: Set in a small, God-fearing town, story focuses on a young girl caught between her Christian upbringing and a desire to experience the outside world. Her desire to break free is amplified when residents begin to die suspiciously.

“Perkins’ 14”: Robert Perkins builds an army of 14 people brainwashed through cult-like methods to protect him from his parents’ killers. When Perkins is imprisoned, the police unwittingly unleash his followers on a small town and they’ve only got one thing on their mind: “Kill for Mr. Perkins.”

“Slaughter”: The film follows a young woman trying to escape an abusive past by moving to Atlanta, but discovers more cruelty awaits her.

“Voices”: After witnessing a family member thrown of a balcony by her fiancée on her wedding day and the violent stabbing of her aunt, a young woman comes to realize she may be next in line. She desperately tries to find out why those around her turn on her and why she seems marked for death. Who can she trust - where can she turn for help when it seems everyone is out to get her. If only she can survive the murderous rage of friends and even her own family long enough to uncover the secret.

Update: It has been brought to our attention that the times below may only be correct for the AMC Pipers Alley, as different times are posted online for AMC Barrington 30. Please check your local listings before heading out to be sure.
