‘Snatch’ Director Guy Ritchie Set to Direct DC Comics’ ‘Lobo’
CHICAGO – Film Journal has announced that Guy Ritchie will be directing his first superhero film “Lobo.” The movie, based off the DC Comics anti-hero, is about a blue-skinned cigar-chomping alien named Lobo who’s an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter.

Created by Roger Slifter and Keith Giffen in the 1980s and a brief run in the 1990s, Lobo was one of comicdom’s more popular characters, according to Film Journal.
Lobo was originally created as a parody of Wolverine and the Punisher with stories that featured a “nihilistic streak tinged with dark comedy and excessive violence.”
Silver Pictures is co-producing the Warners production along with Weed Road. The movie is hoping to start production early next year.
Ritchie is also set to direct “The Gamekeeper,” which is based off the Virgin Comics title. His “Sherlock Holmes” with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law opens this December.
