I'm all over Cop Dramas that are NOT CSI.

There are only a few Cop shows on TV that are worth my time. Life (NBC) was one of them, very different, interesting and awesome. Bones (FOX) is kind of like a Cop Drama. Southland is the latest and I got hooked right from the pilot episode. It’s realistic, gritty, suspenseful, and the relationship between the rookie that comes from money and the veteran officer with a secret is great. The other key characters on the show make it complete. The investigation and danger of the job that is being a cop is what attracts me to it. It’s awesome all around.

YES

I love cop dramas. CSI is fantastic and LA Law was another classic show. They will be around for a long time to come.

love cop dramas and cop reality, they clarify what can be gotten away with and where you go wrong.

LOVE 'em!!

Though nothing, IMO, will ever beat Homicide: Life on the Streets or Columbo (!) I am still completely addicted to cop dramas! I love seeing how they take a bunch of random clues and piece them together, the camaraderie (and often times, disdain) between partners and finally, I love finding out about their personal lives. A good show will have me glued to the television.

Having said that, I REALLY miss Vincent D’Onofrio on Law & Order: Criminal Intent. ILY, Bobby! :-)

Cop Dramas

Shows with a strong center and an interesting assortment of characters are more interesting to watch then straight-ahead procedurals… Like The Shield, Homicide, or Southland.

Shows like CSI and Law and Order never were interesting to me because they are with the grain of what a normal procedural cop show is. While a shows about characters who happen to be cops are always more engaging and are more meaningful.

Not typically

I can watch a good cop drama now and then, but I know I am usually being fed an exaggerated version of reality. That can be okay for television’s sake, but a lot of dramas go a bit overboard and are a bit too incredible.

I love the Shield, and I thought no one can ever replace that show, but watching Southland was really good, and Benjoamin McKenzie is hott!!!
